Jacob's First Communion

For the past few months, the IHM 2nd graders have been preparing to receive their Sacrament of Holy Eucharist (aka First Communion) and what a beautiful celebration it was! Nanny and Papa, Eric, Kelly and their boys, Jack and Mark, all came to CA to celebrate Jacob and we had an amazing time. We know it was not easy to travel so far (with 2 babies no less) so we are so thankful for everyone that came!  We loved spending time with our baby nephews and sight seeing around the city with them.  We even got to go to a Giants game (Maddie's first!) which was a blast.

Jacob has been so excited to finally be able to receive the "body of christ" with us during Mass. When it came his turn, I was overwhelmed with emotion. Watching him dressed up in his suit to receive this blessing was beautiful. And a reminder of how big he is getting and the little man he is becoming. It's hard to put into words the way your heart aches when you see your first born reaching milestones like these. You are so proud, yet so incredibly sad for those years that have already gone by too fast.

We love you so much buddy. And are so, so proud of you every single day.

Little Sluggers

Maddie started softball this year and LOVED it. She did t-ball last year with the Belmont/Redwood Shores little league division but we decided to try softball this year since they immediately start off with Coach pitch and many people have told us that it's better than starting off of a tee. Since Maddie wants to do all things sports, she was all for it and what an amazing season we had! She played for the Cardinals and we had 2 of the best coaches EVER and her team was just phenomenal. All of the girls were really sweet, fun and very much into playing the game and we enjoyed getting to know all of the parents as well. What a great introduction to softball for her and us!

Here are a couple of videos of Maddie's hits!

Jacob is in his second year of the Belmont/Redwood Shores Little League Farm Division. In hindsight, we should have moved him up to the AA division but we didn't realize at the time that age cut offs were changing in favor of many kids moving up. He's having a blast this season on the Pirates though and was even "called up" to play in one of the AA games for the A's which was a great learning experience for him (and us). We can't wait to see what next year brings. Baseball is definitely one of Jacob's favorite sports!
