Family Photos 2011

I'm ashamed it's taken me this long to blog about our most recent family photos. We had a family photo shoot with my friend Shauna of Stinkiepantz Productions a couple of months ago. Of course, it was right before my sale so once the shoot was over, I was focused on other things. Now that I've had some time to digest these pictures, I could look at them over and over again. Shauna is so talented -- and so amazing to work with -- we are lucky to have her as a friend!

Take a look at a highlight of our pics over on her blog.

But if you'd like to see the whole lot, follow these directions:
Go to www.stinkiepantz.com, click on portfolio, then client proofing, and enter the password: broxterm@n11

And to our families, let us know if you'd like us to order any specific pics for you!

Random iPhone uploads

Every now and then, I finally get the chance to download photos from my phone to my computer. And on more than one occasion, I am completely surprised by a photo on my phone. Most of the time, I realize that Jacob has gotten a hold of my phone and started snapping photos at random. All of the time, I laugh hysterically. Here's just a few of the photos/videos shot in the last few weeks. Most of them, were intentional. :)

This was taken at the San Carlos Art/Wine Fest. Go cubs!

Grandma and Grandpa sent Maddie a kilt from Scotland. I had to literally BRIBE Maddie to put this on. Bribes with lollipops work wonders. And Grandpa wonders why she's not wearing a shirt. He's lucky I got the kilt on!

This is one of those priceless "Jacob got a hold of the camera" photos. In fact, there were about 10 of these. Taking photos of himself at Joann's Fabrics. That's how interesting a fabric store can be to a 4 year old.

I nearly fell on the floor when I saw this. This is Jaemie buying fabric. Obviously after our workout at the gym. LOVE. IT.

Don't ever underestimate the fun that can be had at Toys R Us. They hate it when I show up with my kids. Because my kids will be the ones taking EVERY single bike out and riding it around the store.

But how cute is this photo? Both of my lovelies -- all smiles on their toys r us bikes.

Not sure what this face is.

And we've been gearing up for Halloween. Jacob loves his Mario costume.

Jaemie got this Minnie costume for Maddie for her birthday. Maddie LOVES it. And she really couldn't look any more adorable.

So, these were pictures I absolutely do NOT remember taking. We took a day trip to Napa in a limo with 3 other couples (including Matt/Jaemie, Dana/Tim and Amber/Anthony) about a week ago. The trip was awesome but our limo broke down in San Francisco on the way home. This is where the whole day went awry. The boys thought it would be a good idea to buy a case (CASE) of beer while we were stranded. Yes, after a day of drinking wine in Napa. The case was gone in a short amount of time and so were all of our minds. Hence, the lack of memory in taking these photos. Either way, you can tell it was a GREAT time!

Gotta love the iPhone camera!

Maddie's 2 year stats

Maddie had her 2 year check up today. She's at that age right now where the Doctor doesn't scare her and she was so excited about going. After 4 shots, I'm sure she will re-think that excitement the next time I tell her we're going to the Doctor!

She was amazing during the whole check up. She was talking in sentences, singing her Little Gym song "bye bye campers, see you soon, see you soon, see you soon..." (we had just left our Little Gym class) and doing every little thing the Doctor asked which seemed to surprise the Doc! Maybe she doesn't normally have such abiding patients? What killed me the most was when the nurse came in to give her the shots and Maddie willingly laid down with a smile. The poor thing had NO idea what was coming. After that, she cried briefly and then didn't want to leave!! Shocked, I said, "why don't you want to leave?!" She said "Say bye bye Doctor, say bye bye Doctor!" This sweet girl wanted to say goodbye to the Doctor. I guess after getting 4 shots from the nurse, she wanted to see the nice Doctor again instead!

Maddie's stats:
Height: 37 inches! She is completely off the charts in height
Weight: 30.8 lbs. 90% in weight

The Doctor said she was "perfect" and I could not agree more. :) :)

Good thing we don't have to go back until she's 3! Maybe by then she will have forgotten all about those nasty shots.

2 years with Maddie

I am still in shock that Maddie is two. Her second birthday was last Friday (sorry for the late post!) and while she very much looks, acts and talks like a 2 year old (an experienced 2 year old, if I might add), the last 2 years have felt like 2 months. It has to be because she's our second child, because the first 2 years with Jacob seemed to have lasted 2 decades. :)

We celebrated her birthday on Friday doing our regular routine. I made her a birthday shirt the night before and she enjoyed showing it off to everyone, including those in her Little Gym class and the people that work at Whispers (we go there for lunch after our class). When the server at Whispers asked if I had any other children, I told him I had a little boy who was 4. He looked at me and said "Two is enough, right?" HA. Surely I would have been offended if I had any inclination to have a 3rd child but since I apparently feel his sentiment, I could only laugh in agreement. "Yes", I said. "Two is enough!" I just thought it was hysterical (and bold) to make a comment like that to someone he didn't even know!

Anyway, that afternoon, we had our "Happy Hour" Friday playgroup at our house and enjoyed cupcakes, balloons and fun with friends. I can't believe I didn't take any pictures of that afternoon because there were certainly some moments that should have been captured. Specifically, Maddie marching around in a cape, stethoscope, and a pirates hat on backward singing at the top of her lungs for an hour. It was either a sugar rush or an understanding that "this is my birthday and anything goes!" She was wiped out by the end of the day.

Opening presents!

We held her birthday party at Burton Park in San Carlos on Sunday afternoon. It was MUCH colder and more windy than I had expected which was a bummer but I think the kids had a great time anyway. I literally made this shirt for Maddie an hour before her party!

Her BFF Nathan. How cute is this kid, really?!

We brought our picnic table and did a craft! From left: Jaxon, Annie, Jaemie, Kathleen, Maddie and Jacob

Jax, Annie and Nathan (as a funny side note, I met Judy, Jaxon and Annie's mom in the parking lot of Costco a couple of months ago. We both had longhorn decals on our cars and just started talking. She's from Houston originally and went to UT as well and we graduated a year apart. After talking and realizing how many similarities we had -- including that both of our husbands work at Genentech -- we formed a new friendship immediately! Love it when that happens.)

And of course, the Kleins. Iris is getting so big!

Mark was the instigator of this pinata idea. When we were at the party store, he was very excited about getting it! I have to admit, it was the "hit" of the party. Watching the kids hit that thing with a bat was hysterical.

They had to line up by age to hit the pinata. Here are the 4 year olds. From left: Stella, Calvin, Jacob, Ali, Owen, and Jaxon.

Maddie taking a shot with Daddy's help

Then going after it on her own

I actually have a picture of each kid swinging at the pinata but that would literally take me hours to upload! Maddie's cake. I was NOT happy about how this turned out but it was still delicious. They did it last minute since they somehow lost our order so it looked very sloppy to me. Good thing kids don't care about how a cake looks and only care about how it tastes!

Jacob cracks me up in this video. He is all about trying to help her blow out her candle so they can all have some cake!

This child is OBSESSED with sweets. She really cannot get enough of them. Like mother, like daughter.

Burton park has a water feature and I'm just thankful she didn't insist on getting in until the very end of the party. Unfortunately, it was freezing by that point. But she still had a blast!
