I don't want to jinx it but...

For the last 3 days straight, our early riser has woken up at 6:30 am instead of 5:00 am! We actually saw the light of day before we ever heard from him!

To us, this is considered "sleeping in" and we haven't been able to do this in, oh, about a YEAR (aside from those wonderful days when nanny and papa or grandma and grandpa are here to let us sleep in.)

I just keep praying to the good man upstairs that this is not a "phase" -- that the sleep is here to stay. Could it be true? Can we really expect to continue sleeping in? Even if sleeping in now means 6:30 am???

Keep your fingers crossed friends and family! We need all the sleep dust we can get!!

New 'do

I'm becoming creative lately when it comes to entertaining myself. Unfortunately, Jacob is usually my target. He's surprisingly cooperative as long as I don't try to dress him or change his diaper.
I'm still deciding whether or not to cut his hair. Sometimes he's got these cute little curls twirling around adorably in the back of his head. Other times it looks like a mangled rat's nest. Either way, I still love to play with it and decided to break out the hair gel the other night and see what creations I could come up with. Mark was due home any minute and I thought he'd get a kick out of it.

Surely, as you look at these pictures you will recognize that our dear baby boy looks a bit different. When Mark got home though, I got no reaction. NONE. It's like he never looked at his head or something. So much for my FUN. :(
(edited with Mark's comments: "I was on the phone when I came home and therefore was distracted. I love my son no matter what crazy hairdo he has which is why I didn't react.")
HA.

Domestic Abuse

No, I'm not talking about the spousal kind. I'm talking about the kid kind.

Jacob, Mark and I went to look at a house yesterday and I was taking pictures with my digital camera. Jacob LOVES my little digital camera so I let him play with it while I was holding him. He took the camera by the string and swung it straight into my face with this amazingly strong baby power.

Now I have a busted lip. The best part is, this isn't the first time he's busted my lip. I can't even remember what weapon (err, toy) he used last time.

I'm just waiting for the day when he knocks out one of my teeth.

It's dangerous being a mommy my friends.

Jealous mommy

Jacob and Daddy take some of the cutest pictures ever. Probably because it's Mark and mini-Mark side by side. But I realized that I don't have any pictures of me and my little man. Note to self: Take more pictures of mommy and Jacob!

In the meantime, check out the latest cute pic of Daddy and his mini-me.

What Mom?

Jacob's new favorite thing is taking things out of the refrigerator and putting them back in (in a different location, mind you). Today, I found 2 crayons and a rubber ball inside.

I love this picture. He's looking at me like "What Mom?" "Nothing baby. Just keep doing what you're doing."

Mark and Angela plus 1

Have you ever seen that show Jon and Kate plus 8? For the love of pete, I had no idea that I could have an anxiety attack just watching television. This family has a set of twins that are about 6 years old and then they have sextuplets that are 3. I asked Mark tonight if he could imagine living with 6 baby Jacob's every single day and he agreed that it would be insane. He also told me that I wouldn't last a minute in that house. ha. (Don't worry, I'm not offended because he absolutely speaks the truth.)

Jon and Kate, God bless you because I don't know anyone that could manage that kind of chaos.

The best thing about the show? It makes me feel like we have it pretty easy around here. :)

Take a look at a recent picture of our big, toddler boy.

Got cake?

We finally officially celebrated Jacob's first birthday this past Sunday. Grandma and Grandpa were in town and we got Jacob his very own "smash" cake. He was hesitant at first, but it certainly didn't take him long to dig in. We eventually had to cut him off!
