It's Texas hot people

I used to think that I loved the heat, but this week is proving me wrong. It has been hot, hot, hot here. Texas hot. HOUSTON hot. I found this advisory on weather.com:

"A HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM PDT THIS EVENING. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ALSO ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 12 PM TO 8 PM PDT THURSDAY."

This cracks me up mostly because if an excessive heat warning were issued in Houston every time it reached 90 degrees, Houstonians would spend 6 months out of the year in an "excessive heat" status.

Here's my whole take on the situation. Air conditioning does not exist in 90% of the homes in the Bay Area. You don't need it. Really. I thought this was crazy when I moved here years ago but then I realized that the majority of the time, it is completely unnecessary. Well, that is, of course, until you have a week like this one and you are sweating in your sleep (ick.) So, the national weather service has to issue excessive heat warnings like this because we're all sitting in our 90 degree houses with no protection!

Even still, my new mom friends and I venture out to the park and watch our little ones run around with bright, rosy cheeks and sweaty heads. The sunscreen and water overflows. We met at one of our favorite parks today, and I just had to post a couple of pictures. Jacob in his little golf shirt and sandals and our friend Ellie in her adorable hat and sunglasses (I can't keep a hat or sunglasses on Jacob to save my life.) It was unbearably hot but still super fun!
