IHM Fashion Show

Our school's annual Fashion Show is one of my favorite events of the year.  They transform the gym into a stage with a catwalk and the kids perform in segments that go along with the theme for the year.  This year's theme was Disney's "The Magic of Christmas".  The Kindergarteners always open the show with a few songs and in very unbiased opinion (ha), they always steal the show!  They are so darn cute singing up there on stage.  This was obviously Maddie's first year to participate and she love, love, loved it.  Not every child participates.  You have to sign a form at the beginning of the year stating that your child wants to be in the show.  Some of the boys opt out, but Jacob is ALL about it.  Whenever I ask him if he wants to do it again he looks at me with these big eyes and says "OF COURSE MOMMY!"  He certainly isn't afraid of the spotlight.

All of the segments are a very big secret and the parents aren't allowed to see or hear what they're doing.  During rehearsals, you drop them off at the gym and they put black paper over the windows so you can't see in!  They aren't kidding around with this thing.  All I knew was that Jacob was in the "chimney sweep" segment and we had to get a vest and button down shirt for him.  When he came out dancing with his little broomstick, we nearly died!  So, so, so cute.  It's a little blurry at first but it clears up quickly.  My absolute favorite part is when he jumps and waves at the end - so funny!

The Kindergarteners sang 5 songs but I'll just post a link to a couple of them.  It's hard to hear the lyrics, but they are super cute!  Maddie is in the front row, all the way to the right.

Finally, as part of the fundraising, a photographer donates her time and takes black and white photos of all of the kids participating in the fashion show and then she sells them at the show.  All of the proceeds benefit IHM so of course we always buy them.  But they are always such great pictures, how can you not?!

After the show, we went for Frozen Yogurt to celebrate!
