After Christmas, we were anxious to get up to the mountains and get the kids on skis again. I didn't learn how to ski until I was 15 and it was SO hard to learn at that age. Mark and I both want Jacob and Maddie to learn early, so they can enjoy it for a long, long time! We ended up finding this little (and I mean TINY) cabin in the woods that was just a 15-20 minute drive to Dodge Ridge. This is not a big mountain but for our purposes, it was perfect. Jacob and Maddie are still learning so we don't really get to ski any big runs anyway.
The first day, they took an afternoon half day lesson together while Mark and I skied. We decided to ski with them on day 2 and let me tell you, that day started out rough. Maddie was still not ready to let go of our hands (or ski poles) while skiing down, and for some reason, we had serious lift trouble (getting on and getting off was a disaster every time). By the afternoon though, Maddie made up her mind that she was finally going to let go and once she got that confidence, that girl was flying down the mountain! Thank goodness we ended on a high note. Given that this place is only about 3 hours away, I really want to try and get up there more often during ski season. Such a perfect little place to learn!
Even when they would take a tumble, they'd get up right away and get back to it!
